Fox News correspondent Benjamin Hall is set to climb over 2,000 steps to the top of One World Trade Center in New York City on Sunday. This climb is part of the 10th annual Tunnel to Towers Tower Climb event, which honors the sacrifices of those who lost their lives in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Hall, who will be climbing on prosthetic legs, aims to raise funds for Gold Star families and the families of fallen first responders.
Overcoming Adversity
Hall’s participation in the climb is particularly poignant given his own journey of recovery. In March 2022, while covering the conflict in Ukraine, Hall was critically injured by Russian missile strikes, resulting in the loss of both legs. Despite these challenges, Hall is determined to inspire others facing difficult circumstances. He stated, “If I can climb to the top of the skyscraper on prosthetic legs, then maybe that sends a message to anyone else who’s gone through something difficult. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been hurt. You pick yourself up, and you can keep climbing.”
Honoring Heroes
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which organizes the event, was established in memory of Stephen Siller, an off-duty firefighter who gave his life to save others during the Twin Towers’ collapse. The foundation’s mission includes providing mortgage-free homes to the families of fallen heroes. Hall will be joined by Dr. Joe Alderete, the military trauma surgeon who saved his life, and 1,250 other participants in this meaningful endeavor.
Hall emphasized the importance of supporting those who have lost loved ones in service, saying, “My injuries don’t matter. It doesn’t matter how injured I was. I got back to my family. But these people did not. And so we’re raising money for the families of those who did not come home, and so we should all be part of their growing family now.”
