Bengals Team Joins Community to Build Playground in Westwood

In a heartwarming display of community spirit, Cincinnati Bengals players, coaches, and executives spent their day off contributing to the construction of a new playground at the Ryan Sports Complex in Westwood. This initiative is part of the Bengals’ ongoing efforts to beautify and support local neighborhoods.

Community Engagement

For over a decade, the Bengals have been actively involved in community projects, partnering with various organizations to make a positive impact. This year, they collaborated with United Way of Greater Cincinnati to bring the playground project to life. The day was marked by teamwork and a shared sense of purpose, as players, including rookies, used their skills to lay the foundation and assemble parts of the playground.

Voices from the Team

Offensive tackle Christian Jones expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “I think giving back to the community, everybody talks about that. There’s no better way of putting it. Like giving back to the community is a huge opportunity for us and it’s really satisfying seeing a ton of people do it, too, because I know there’s small teams of people that do these things.”

Head coach Zac Taylor also shared his thoughts, emphasizing the importance of giving back to a community that has shown immense support for the team. “This community has done so much to support us that the least we can do is come back and be able to give back and help build this playground. And it’s an awesome place for kids and families to have a safe space to build memories for a lifetime to come. And so, we’ll do a great job today,” Taylor said.

Building for the Future

The day’s activities included digging, hammering, and assembling various parts of the playground. The Bengals’ involvement in this project not only strengthens their bond with the community but also ensures that future generations will have a safe and enjoyable space to create lasting memories. This effort is a full-circle moment for the Bengals organization, as they had previously helped build the original playground at the Ryan Sports Complex in 2016.
