Bend Senior High School Unveils New Main Parking Lot

Bend Senior High School in Oregon has successfully completed the construction of its new main parking lot, marking the end of the first phase of its extensive redesign project. This development is a significant step forward for the school community, as it prepares for further enhancements.

New Facilities and Future Plans

The newly completed parking lot, which will officially open off 9th Street in August 2026, is part of a broader plan to improve the school’s infrastructure. Upon the project’s full completion in fall 2028, the campus will have 102 additional parking spaces. The current upgrades include new paving, hardscaping, landscaping, and improved traffic flow with wayfinding signage.

Principal Chris Reese expressed his enthusiasm for the improvements, highlighting the new light poles and signage that contribute to a sense of pride and arrival for the campus community. Reese emphasized that the parking lot is more than just an infrastructure upgrade; it symbolizes the successful completion of phase one and the momentum towards the school’s future.

Community and Collaboration

The redesign project also includes a new transportation bus drop-off for Bend-La Pine Schools, aimed at enhancing traffic flow and campus access. Although parking will be limited during the next two years of construction, the temporary inconvenience is expected to lead to a significantly improved experience for students, staff, and families once phase two is completed.

Reese praised the collaborative efforts of project partners, including BBT Architects, Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company, and Bend-La Pine Schools Facilities Development. He expressed gratitude for their professionalism and commitment throughout the process, stating that the future of Bend Senior High School is becoming more visible every day.

Phase two of the construction is set to begin in summer 2026, with the final project completion anticipated in fall 2028. The new main entrance’s opening in August 2026 will be a key milestone in this ongoing transformation.
