Barstool founder Dave Portnoy has made a shocking claim about the former hosts of the popular podcast ‘Call Her Daddy’. According to Portnoy, hosts Alex Cooper and Sofia Franklyn planned to falsely claim they were sexually harassed at the company in order to get out of their contracts.
Contract Negotiations
The podcast, which was launched by Barstool in 2018, quickly gained a large following, particularly among young women. However, contract negotiations and a feud between the co-hosts led to a public breakup in 2020. Portnoy claims that Cooper was happy with an offer that would allow the co-hosts to keep their intellectual property, but Franklyn wanted to leave Barstool altogether.
Portnoy wrote in his new book, ‘Cancel Me If You Can’, that Cooper told him they had a plan to say they were both sexually harassed at Barstool in order to get out of their contractual obligation. Portnoy has been accused of misogyny throughout his career, but he claims he has never been accused of inappropriate workplace conduct.
Response from Former Hosts
Cooper and Franklyn did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Portnoy also sat down with the WSJ Magazine to promote his book, explaining that retaining talent like Cooper and Franklyn is difficult if other companies are offering more money.
