Bambu Lab, a consumer-tech company, has launched PLA Pure, a new filament designed for cleaner and safer home 3D printing. The filament is made from five food-safe ingredients, including polylactic acid (PLA) derived from corn and sugarcane, and acrylic copolymer commonly found in children’s toys.
Key Features of PLA Pure
PLA Pure has been certified compliant with EU 10/2011, the European regulation governing plastics intended for food contact. The filament has also passed EN 71-3 certification, the European safety standard for toy materials. Additionally, PLA Pure carries UL 2904 GREENGUARD certification, which measures particulate matter and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) for indoor air quality impact.
The filament is available now at the Bambu Lab Official Store, with a price of $24.99 for a spool and $21.99 for a refill. Bambu Lab recommends considering factors such as equipment hygiene, printing conditions, and object usage when selecting a material for a specific application.
