Avalanche Trade Ross Colton to Predators

The Nashville Predators acquired veteran center Ross Colton from the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday in a trade that featured three players and two draft picks changing hands.

The Predators added Colton and minor league goaltender Isak Posch in exchange for goaltender Magnus Chrona, Nashville’s third-round pick in the 2026 draft and a third-round pick in the 2027 draft.

Colton’s Career

In Colton, 29, the Predators add a six-year veteran who won the 2021 Stanley Cup with the Tampa Bay Lightning during his rookie season and who’s produced 13 goals in 75 Stanley Cup playoff games.

In regular-season play, Colton has amassed 89 goals, 87 assists, 183 blocked shots and 822 hits over 404 games. This year, he contributed nine goals and 15 assists in 73 games for an Avalanche squad that earned the Presidents’ Trophy for compiling the NHL’s best regular-season record.

Chrona, a 25-year-old Sweden native, appeared in nine games for the San Jose Sharks in 2023-24 and posted a 1-6-1 record with a 4.71 goals-against average. He spent the last two seasons with the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals and notched a 21-22-8 record with a 2.86 GAA.

Posch, a 24-year-old also from Sweden, spent most of this season with the AHL’s Colorado Eagles and delivered a 15-8-5 record with a 2.78 GAA.
