George R.R. Martin, the 77-year-old author of the ‘A Song of Fire and Ice’ series, has been open about his struggles with depression. In a recent update on his blog, Martin shared that he has been dealing with overwhelming stress and sadness.
Struggles with Depression
Martin, who is set to turn 78 next month, confessed that this year has been particularly challenging for him. He has lost friends, battled sadness and depression, and is worried that the worst may be yet to come.
Despite his struggles, Martin found some solace in the recent Emmy nominations for ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’, a ‘Game of Thrones’ spinoff. The series received nine nominations, including one for outstanding drama series.
Martin hopes to attend the awards ceremony in September, but is unsure if he will be able to do so. He also expressed his desire to write more blog posts in the future, but warned that they may be short and rushed due to his current struggles.
