Two of Austin’s most beloved nonprofits joined forces this week to make sure no one — human or four-legged — goes hungry. Austin Pets Alive! and the Central Texas Food Bank partnered to distribute food for both people and their pets, bringing relief directly to community members in need.
The collaboration reflects a growing recognition that pet owners facing food insecurity often struggle to feed their animals as well as themselves. By combining resources, the two organizations were able to reach families who might otherwise have to choose between their own meals and their pets’ wellbeing.
Austin Pets Alive! has long been a cornerstone of the local animal welfare community, while the Central Texas Food Bank is one of the region’s largest hunger-relief organizations. Together, their joint distribution effort is a heartwarming example of Austin nonprofits working hand-in-hand to strengthen the community’s safety net — for every member of the family.
