Atlanta Hawks Elevate Onsi Saleh to President of Basketball Operations

The Atlanta Hawks have announced the promotion of Onsi Saleh to president of basketball operations. This decision comes on the heels of the Hawks’ successful playoff run, marking their first appearance since 2023. Saleh, who has been with the team since May 2024, initially served as assistant general manager before being promoted to general manager in April 2025.

Saleh, 40, expressed his gratitude towards the team owners, the Resslers, for their continued trust and support. “They have provided all the resources necessary for our front office to continue methodically building our program into one of the NBA’s elite,” Saleh stated. He emphasized his commitment to leading the team and delivering for Hawks fans, expressing excitement for the future of the franchise.

Under Saleh’s leadership, the Hawks achieved a 46-36 record, winning the Southeast Division and securing a No. 6 seed in the playoffs. Despite being eliminated in the first round by the New York Knicks, Saleh’s efforts were recognized as he was named runner-up for NBA Basketball Executive of the Year.

Hawks principal owner Tony Ressler praised Saleh for his leadership qualities and vision, which he believes will position the franchise to compete at a championship level. Ressler highlighted Saleh’s communication skills and talent evaluation, noting his respect within the NBA community.

Looking ahead, the Hawks hold a promising position in the upcoming NBA draft with two first-round picks, including a top-10 selection acquired through a trade with the New Orleans Pelicans. This strategic move places the Hawks in a unique position as the only 2026 playoff team with a top-10 draft pick.
