Greenville’s Art & Light Gallery is set to unveil its newest exhibition, “Time Capsule,” on Sept. 29. The show highlights the work of two regional artists—Erin Hughes of Anderson and Liz Rundorff Smith of Greenville—and will be on view both in the gallery’s downtown space at 16 Aiken St. and online via the gallery’s website.
Artists and themes
Hughes, known for her encaustic and oil paintings, explores the difficulty of preserving fleeting visual moments in nature. Her pieces ask viewers to consider how quickly beauty can fade and what remains when the eye can no longer capture it.
Rundorff Smith’s work confronts the inevitable loss that comes with physical deterioration and the uncomfortable reality of living in an aging body. Her paintings and mixed‑media pieces invite reflection on how time reshapes both the body and the world around us.
Opening reception
The gallery will host an opening reception on Oct. 2 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Residents are invited to meet the artists, enjoy light refreshments, and experience the new collection in person. The event offers a chance for the community to support local creators and engage in conversation about the themes of memory and impermanence.
Virtual access
For those unable to attend in person, the entire exhibition will be available virtually on the Art & Light Gallery website. The online gallery provides high‑resolution images and artist statements, ensuring that the “Time Capsule” experience reaches a broader audience across the Upstate.
Supporting Greenville’s cultural scene
Art & Light Gallery has long been a hub for contemporary art in Greenville, showcasing emerging talent and fostering dialogue about the role of art in everyday life. By presenting “Time Capsule,” the gallery continues its mission to bring thought‑provoking work to the community while highlighting the creative contributions of local artists.
