A woman with a semi-automatic rifle surrendered to Arlington police Monday morning after an hours-long standoff at a home on Orange Street.
Officers responded to a disturbance call in the 300 block of Orange Street at 7:07 a.m. after a caller reported that a woman with a semi-automatic rifle had threatened people at the location.
When officers arrived, two people told police the woman, whom they knew, had threatened them with a semi-automatic rifle before going back inside a nearby home.
Investigators reached two people inside the home by phone and helped them leave safely. Police then determined that the woman and her boyfriend remained inside the residence.
Officers continued phone negotiations with the woman until she left the home and surrendered, police said. Police took her into custody without further incident.
Her boyfriend also left the home safely. Police reported no injuries.
Arlington police had not released the woman’s identity or potential charges as of Monday afternoon.
