The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has introduced new regulations, effective July 1, that bring changes to fishing, hunting, and the use of Game and Fish properties across the state. One of the updates requires individuals aged 16 or older who do not have a hunting or fishing license but wish to use Game and Fish property for other activities to purchase a $10.50 permit.
Changes to Fishing Regulations
The new rules also eliminate fish possession limits, meaning fish no longer count toward a possession limit once they reach a final point of storage or consumption. Additionally, the regulations limit the amount and length of trout that can be kept in the tailwaters of Beaver Dam. Ten streams across Arkansas have been designated as Blue Ribbon Smallmouth Streams, where anglers are restricted to keeping one smallmouth bass per day, and it must be longer than 15 inches.
According to Trey Reid, spokesperson for Arkansas Game and Fish, the new regulations are designed to support conservation in Arkansas and promote responsible use of Game and Fish properties. The updated guidebooks will soon be available at retailers and regional Game and Fish offices.
