Apple’s on-device generative AI service, Apple Intelligence, has been registered with China’s cyberspace regulator for use on iPhones in the country. This move is part of Apple’s efforts to expand its services in China.
According to a source, Apple’s intelligence services will incorporate capabilities from Baidu and Alibaba’s AI models. Alibaba confirmed that its Qwen will be integrated into Apple Intelligence experiences within iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and visionOS for users in China.
Apple reported a 24.4% year-on-year increase in its shipments in China in the second quarter. The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the registration of Apple Intelligence.
