Apple announced a $30 billion deal to design chips made in the United States by Broadcom, as part of its effort to diversify the source of its components and support domestic chip production.
Supporting American Chipmaking
The agreement with Broadcom will lead to the production of 15 million chips in the United States and allow Broadcom to invest $1.5 billion to expand and modernize its manufacturing facilities in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Apple CEO Tim Cook stated that the partnership further accelerates Apple’s commitment to American manufacturing and innovation. The deal is part of Apple’s $600 billion “American Manufacturing Program” to bring more of its supply chain and advanced manufacturing back to the US.
