A recent post from a Democrat running for Congress in New York’s 13th District caught attention for its contradictory message. The candidate, Darializa Avila Chevalier, declared that ‘Hate has no place Uptown and in the Bronx’ and that there is ‘no room for the hateful politics of the past.’ However, she had previously called the United States a ‘f—ing disgrace’ and declared ‘ALL PIGS EVERYWHERE ARE HARAM’ — meaning all police are impure, enemies of the people.
The Hypocrisy of Anti-Americanism
This hypocrisy is not isolated. Many have come to cheer on such messages, with some even stating that America is a ‘f—ing disgrace’ and a ‘terrorist country.’ This sentiment has become a disease, infecting large parts of our communities and making it seem normal to hate America.
Civil rights heroes, on the other hand, loved America and fought for its principles. They marched into fire hoses and billy clubs, not because they hated America, but because they loved it enough to demand it live up to its promise. Today’s professional haters offer only fire and grievance, and when the fire comes back at them, they act shocked.
It’s time to throw out the broken record of hatred and start building something that blesses the next generation with real opportunity. America is flawed, but it rewards builders. It’s time to tell the truth: America is imperfect, but it remains the greatest vehicle for human flourishing ever created.
