The city of Ames is preparing to host the 10th edition of Rummage RAMPage, an annual event that keeps reusable items out of landfills while raising money for local nonprofit organizations. This year’s event will run from Friday, July 24, through Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Ames Intermodal Facility on Hayward Avenue.
Event Schedule
Organizers have set a schedule for the event: Friday, July 24, will be drop-off only from noon to 6 p.m. Sales and drop-off will be available on Saturday, July 25, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, July 26, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event will continue from Monday, July 27, through Thursday, July 30, with sales and drop-off from noon to 6 p.m. On Friday, July 31, sales will be available from noon to 6 p.m., and on Saturday, Aug. 1, the event will feature half-price sales from 8 a.m. to noon, with no drop-off allowed.
People who want to donate items can begin dropping them off at the facility once the event starts. Organizers are also offering an item pickup service for donors who cannot transport items themselves. The service carries a fee, with proceeds benefiting community nonprofit organizations. Iowa Home Consulting is donating its time and resources to provide the pickup service.
City officials said the event helps extend the life of usable goods, reduce waste, and support local groups through the proceeds generated by sales. Last year’s event set a record by raising more than $72,000, and organizers are hoping to surpass that total this year.
