KTBS and Collette are taking travelers on a journey through history as part of America 250, visiting the places where the United States was born. New York City, with over 8.5 million residents, is a sprawling, multi-cultural epicenter where more than 500 languages are spoken.
New York City Landmarks
The city’s landmarks span centuries of the American story. The Statue of Liberty, a gift from France, has stood since 1886 as a universal symbol of freedom, welcoming generations of immigrants seeking citizenship. The New York Stock Exchange, guarded by Wall Street’s famous Charging Bull, is a symbol of market optimism.
The city is also home to the National September 11 Memorial, where two massive reflecting pools sit in the footprints of the Twin Towers, destroyed by terrorists on September 11, 2001. The names of the thousands of victims are etched into panels of black granite encircling the water.
