Ambler, PA, is home to the Act II Playhouse, which is currently presenting ‘Eisenhower: This Piece of Ground,’ a solo show about the life and legacy of former President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
The Show
The show, directed by and starring Anthony Lawton, explores Eisenhower’s thoughts on his legacy and presidency. Lawton plays Eisenhower, who reflects on his life, from growing up poor in Kansas to his time at West Point and his presidency.
The show also touches on Eisenhower’s personal life, including his family and loss. According to Lawton, ‘You can really relate to this human being, talking about his family and loss.’ The show’s artistic director, Tony Braithwaite, adds that ‘He’s more interesting than you think.’
