Alison Arngrim, the actress who played the iconic villain Nellie Oleson in the classic TV series ‘Little House on the Prairie,’ has made a surprise cameo in the new Netflix reboot. Arngrim, who is now 64 years old, has some advice for the new Nellie, played by Willa Dunn.
Playing the Villain
Arngrim told Fox News Digital that playing Nellie was a ‘tall order’ for a young actress, but that it’s essential to remember that the character is not the same as the person playing her. ‘You’ve got to have a solid sense of who you are,’ she said. ‘When people are talking about this other person who lived in the 1800s, saying, ‘I hate her so much. She’s so awful. I want to slap her in the face,’ you can’t take that personally.’
Arngrim also recalled her own experiences playing Nellie, including the time someone threw a McDonald’s cup of orange soda at her face during a Christmas parade. Despite the challenges, Arngrim has no regrets about playing the role and is urging skeptical fans to give the new reboot a chance.
