Albuquerque Photographer Showcases Lowrider Culture

Albuquerque photographer Nathaniel Testuro-Paolinelli is releasing a new book that spotlights the city’s lowrider culture and the community behind it. The book is centered on the people he has photographed in Albuquerque’s lowrider scene for 5 years.

Community-Driven Culture

Testuro-Paolinelli said one of the most striking parts of the project was seeing how deeply rooted and family-driven the culture is. “The thing that really surprised me the most is how tight-knit it is and how generational it is,” he said. “It goes back really far, and there’s so many people in this town involved in it.”

Books on the Bosque and Testuro-Paolinelli will host a book event Sunday, June 14, from 1 to 4 p.m. Visitors can meet the photographer and purchase a copy of the book. The event will also feature a lowrider car and bike show, free haircuts for kids, appearances by car enthusiasts, and a visit from state Sen. Leo Jaramillo.
