A new study by Elemetal analyzed Google Trends search interest for every U.S. president and vice president who has served since 2000, examining search activity in all 50 states. The study found that John Quincy Adams was Alabama’s most-searched president over the past 12 months.
Local Ties and National Legacy
The results also showed that many states searched most for presidents with strong local ties. For example, Abraham Lincoln topped searches in Illinois, where he built his political career. Andrew Jackson led in Tennessee, and Dwight D. Eisenhower was the most-searched president in Kansas.
According to Elemetal, some states favored presidents because of their historical connections to the region, while others appeared to search based on national legacy or historical significance. The study was released as Americans prepare to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary, offering a patriotic look at which historical leaders continue to capture public interest across the country.
