The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) has launched its annual surplus property auction, available online now through Sunday, August 30. The auction features a broad range of items, including recreational vehicles, automobiles, boats, tools, computers, restaurant and office equipment, furniture, and more.
How to Participate
Qualified bidders—municipal and county governments, state agencies, and eligible nonprofit organizations—can register through the ADECA website. The agency provides links for registration, a full inventory list, and photos of selected items. All sales are final, with items sold “as is” and the responsibility for pickup and removal falling on the buyer.
On‑Site Inspection
For those who prefer to see the items in person, ADECA will host public viewing and inspections at its Distribution Center in Montgomery, located at 4590 Mobile Highway. The viewing hours are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. from Wednesday, August 26 through Friday, August 28. This allows local officials and nonprofit leaders to assess the condition of equipment before placing bids.
Beyond the Auction
In addition to selling surplus property, ADECA administers a variety of grant programs that support law‑enforcement initiatives, victim services, economic development, energy conservation, water‑resource management, broadband expansion, and recreation development throughout the state.
