The Alabama School of Healthcare Sciences Foundation, which supports the mission of the Alabama School of Healthcare Sciences by creating awareness, raising funds, and building partnerships, has added five new board members. Two prominent Tuscaloosa businessmen, Larry Howell and Cade Warner, are among the new additions.
New Board Members
Howell, president of Hinton Lumber Products and a graduate of the University of Alabama, serves on the boards of Alabama Power, the Business Council of Alabama, and the Wildlife Federation, among others. Warner, President and CEO of The Westervelt Company in Tuscaloosa, holds degrees from the University of Alabama and University of Georgia.
Other new members include Clarence M. Ball, Jr. of Mobile, Nathaniel Drummond of Birmingham, Barbara Estep from Birmingham, Jeremy Wooten of Cullman, Bart McCorquodale of Jackson, and Dr. Mark McIlwain of Sheffield. Foundation President and CEO Scott Huffman praised the new selections, noting that they have already made a difference in their careers.
The tuition-free healthcare curriculum is intended to serve as a national model and will welcome its first freshman class in August. Initial classes will be located at a mini campus on the grounds of the University of West Alabama in Livingston until the permanent school in Demopolis is opened.
