Alabama Journalist Kaitlan Collins Faces Criticism from President Trump

Kaitlan Collins, a University of Alabama graduate and White House reporter for CNN, found herself at the center of attention during a recent Oval Office event. President Trump, known for his contentious relationship with the media, directed pointed remarks at Collins, a Prattville native, as he addressed the press.

During the event, Trump interrupted his response to a question about the justice department’s decision to drop the ‘Anti-Weaponization Fund’ to criticize Collins. He accused her of never smiling and having ‘hatred in her eyes,’ a claim he has made multiple times before.

Trump continued his critique, labeling CNN as a ‘corrupt organization’ and targeting Collins specifically. He suggested her alleged animosity was due to the administration’s policies, such as strong borders and military, and tax cuts.

Collins, who has a background with conservative media, questioned Trump about the $1.7 billion fund intended to compensate allies he claimed were unfairly targeted by the previous administration. Trump’s response was dismissive, stating he would need to consult lawyers.

The exchange escalated as Trump told another reporter to ‘be quiet’ and continued his tirade against Collins, suggesting she should be ashamed of her past conservative affiliations. Collins, maintaining her composure, responded, ‘I’m still from Alabama.’

Collins graduated from the University of Alabama in 2014 with a degree in political science and journalism, and her career has been marked by her ability to hold her ground amidst challenging interactions with political figures.
