An Alabama family made a pit stop in Kentucky during a road trip and came away with a massive Powerball prize. Theresa and James Stuckey of Enterprise, Alabama, made a trip to Kentucky to pick up their son after he spent the summer with family in Ohio.
After meeting them in Bowling Green, they stopped at the Pilot Travel Center in Franklin for a restroom break. They bought Powerball tickets there, and after returning home, Theresa downloaded the Kentucky Lottery app to check their tickets.
Theresa purchased a Powerball ticket for the Aug. 1 drawing, and by adding the Power Play to her ticket, turned a $50,000 prize into a $150,000 prize. The family’s take-home prize was $108,750 after taxes.
The family plans to pay off cars, help their daughter in college, and plan a family vacation with their winnings.
