Akin Family Resources, a statewide nonprofit, recently held its Bundles of Love diaper giveaway in Clark County, distributing 560 boxes of diapers to families in need. The event, which took place at Hazel Dell Fred Meyer, also provided families with wipes, baby food, and reusable tote bags, along with information about Akin Family Resource Centers in Vancouver and Washougal.
Supporting Families in Clark County
According to Connie Kaebler, Akin Family Resource Manager, the organization’s Clark County Resource Centers offer behavioral health services, family navigation, household essentials, and hygiene items, all while working to make services accessible with as few barriers as possible. Kaebler noted that demand for diapers remains one of the organization’s greatest challenges, and community donations play a vital role in keeping shelves stocked.
Families do not need to meet income requirements or reside in Clark County to receive services in Vancouver or Washougal. Anyone caring for children or youth who need support is welcome, with no real qualification other than they have a need and come in the door. Akin Family Resources is preparing to expand services at its St. Johns Road location in Vancouver with the completion of a new building later this year.
