The Akawa Butte Fire in Oregon has reached 10% containment, with fire officials announcing the progress during a community meeting in Sisters. The fire is now fully surrounded by hand lines and dozer lines, and thousands of firefighters have contributed to the efforts.

Firefighting Efforts

Steve Chapman, an official with the OSFM Red Team, provided details on the deployment and reassignment of fire personnel. One task force will continue working through the night, and the remaining two task forces are expected to complete their shifts tomorrow before being reassigned to the Bench Fire.

The community meeting also saw fire officials receive a standing ovation from the audience upon confirming that no firefighters have been seriously injured in the blaze. With the progress made, some crews are being pulled from the Akawa Butte Fire and reassigned to other blazes in the region.
