Adam Schefter to Co‑Host NFL Network’s ‘The Insiders’ This Fall

Long‑time NFL reporter Adam Schefter is set to re‑join NFL Network this fall as a co‑host of its flagship evening program, The Insiders. Schefter, who began his national reporting career at NFL Network from 2004 to 2009 before moving to ESPN, will appear on the show for the first time in 17 years.

Background on the partnership

Earlier this year, ESPN finalized an acquisition that gave the National Football League a 10% equity stake in the sports network. The deal deepens the collaboration between the two media properties and opens the door for talent to appear on both platforms.

Details of the new role

Sources familiar with the arrangement say Schefter will likely co‑host The Insiders on Wednesdays during the regular season. The program, which has long been anchored by NFL Network’s lead newsbreakers Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero and Mike Garafolo, will now feature Schefter alongside the remaining hosts.

Pelissero recently departed the network after signing a deal with The Ringer and Netflix, creating space for the veteran ESPN insider. In addition to Schefter, ESPN reporters Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano are expected to make occasional co‑hosting appearances throughout the fall schedule.

Cross‑network collaborations

The move is part of a broader strategy to blend talent from ESPN and NFL Network across their respective programming. NFL Network personalities such as Rapoport, Stacey Dales, Cynthia Frelund, Steve Smith, Kyle Brandt and former player Gerald McCoy are slated to appear on ESPN shows, while ESPN’s Molly McGrath and Mina Kimes will make selected appearances on NFL Network, including its Sunday pre‑game broadcast.

Contract extensions and future plans

Last month Schefter secured a multi‑year contract extension with ESPN, reinforcing his long‑term role within the company. Ian Rapoport also signed a long‑term agreement, ensuring both insiders will have prominent roles on the networks ahead of ESPN’s first Super Bowl broadcast in February.

Both reporters are expected to contribute to a variety of ESPN platforms, including “Get Up,” “SportsCenter,” and the “Pat McAfee Show,” as the networks prepare for the upcoming football season and the league’s marquee events.

What this means for fans

For NFL enthusiasts, Schefter’s return to NFL Network promises deeper analysis and more immediate breaking news on the league’s biggest stories. The collaboration also reflects the growing synergy between ESPN and the NFL’s own media arm, offering viewers a more integrated coverage experience.

As the 2026 NFL season approaches, fans can look forward to a schedule that blends the strengths of both networks, delivering timely updates, expert commentary, and behind‑the‑scenes insight from some of the sport’s most trusted voices.
