Actor James Handy Tragically Killed in Los Angeles Incident

James Handy, a respected actor known for his roles in ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and ‘The West Wing,’ was tragically killed in Los Angeles on Wednesday morning. The 81-year-old actor was stabbed by his girlfriend’s son, according to authorities.

Incident Details

The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a 911 call from a man claiming responsibility for the attack, stating, ‘I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.’ Officers found Handy unconscious in the front yard of a Tarzana home, suffering from a stab wound to his chest. He was transported to the hospital but was later pronounced dead.

The suspect, 44-year-old Michael Gledhill, who resides at the home with his mother, Handy’s girlfriend, was arrested on suspicion of murder. His bail was set at $2 million, and it is unclear if he has legal representation at this time.

Remembering James Handy

Born in New York, Handy had a prolific career, appearing in over a hundred films and television shows. In addition to his role in ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’ he was known for his performances in ‘Jumanji,’ ‘Logan,’ and various TV series including ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ and ‘Law & Order.’

Fellow actor and friend Dan Lauria, who is also a veteran, spoke fondly of Handy, recalling their shared experiences and Handy’s support for veterans. Lauria expressed his intention to honor Handy with other veterans upon returning to Los Angeles.

Handy’s talent agent, Pam Ellis-Evenas, confirmed his death, expressing great sadness over the loss of the esteemed actor.
