The Las Vegas Aces and New York Liberty are set to face off in the Commissioner’s Cup Championship on Tuesday night. However, both teams will be without key players due to injury. A’ja Wilson, who rolled her right ankle in the Aces’ win over the Chicago Sky on Sunday, has been officially ruled out for the championship game.
Liberty’s Injury Woes
The Liberty will also be without Satou Sabally, who is in concussion protocol after taking an elbow to the face in last Tuesday’s game against the Aces. Sabally has averaged 10.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game in her first season in New York.
Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones will lead the Liberty, with Stewart averaging 19.2 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, and Jones averaging 15.2 points and 8.7 rebounds. Other key contributors for the Liberty include Pauline Astier, Marine Johannes, Leonie Fiebich, and Sabrina Ionescu.
Aces’ Lineup Changes
In Wilson’s absence, the Aces’ other key players will have to step up. Jackie Young, Chennedy Carter, Chelsea Gray, and NaLyssa Smith have all been key contributors so far this season. Cheyenne Parker-Tyus and Stephanie Talbot are likely to see an increased role after Wilson’s sidelining.
The Liberty-Aces game will tip off at 7 pm ET at Barclays Center.
