Abbeville Resident Found Guilty on Meth and Firearm Charges

An Abbeville man, Cassime Dion Lingo, has been found guilty on multiple federal charges related to methamphetamine distribution and firearm possession. The conviction follows a lengthy legal process that began with a 2021 search warrant at his residence.

Details of the Case

In April 2021, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Lingo’s home, uncovering over 100 grams of methamphetamine, two firearms, and additional drugs including cocaine, MDMA tablets, and marijuana. Despite being released on bond for state charges, Lingo fled to Mexico, delaying the judicial process.

The United States Marshals Service, in collaboration with Mexican authorities, located Lingo in Guadalajara in 2022. He was deported back to the United States in 2025, where he was subsequently taken into custody.

Trial and Sentencing

After a two-day trial in Dothan, the jury returned guilty verdicts on all counts against Lingo. He was convicted of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and receipt of a firearm while under indictment for a previous felony drug offense in Houston County.

Lingo faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison, with a 10-year sentence for the methamphetamine charge and an additional consecutive five-year term for the firearm offense. Sentencing will be scheduled at a later date.

U.S. Attorney Thomas Govan commended the efforts of the United States Marshals Service and other law enforcement agencies for their diligence in ensuring Lingo was held accountable for his crimes, despite his attempt to evade justice by fleeing the country.
