The College of Veterinary Medicine at Arkansas State University is poised to welcome its first class of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) students this fall. Ahead of the start of classes, a white coat ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8, at Fowler Center.
White Coat Ceremony
The white coat ceremony marks the entry of our students into the veterinary profession, a rite of passage in which they pledge to serve animal health and adhere to ethical standards, said Dr. Heidi Banse, dean of the CVM.
Students have been on campus for orientation the first week of August. CVM classes will begin Wednesday, a week before A-State’s regular semester commences.
The students included this year in the first CVM class come from various backgrounds and have completed their undergraduate degrees from different institutions.
