Indian River State College has introduced the Promise Program, which offers free tuition, room, and board to students from Indian River, Saint Lucie, Martin, and Okeechobee counties. The program is available to students who graduate from high school and attend the college full-time.
Program Details
The Promise Program is funded by local philanthropy and covers all tuition, room, and board costs for students. To be eligible, students must attend the college full-time and maintain a 2.0 grade point average. The program is designed to help local students achieve their academic goals without incurring significant debt.
According to Beth Gaskin, vice president for Student Success at Indian River State College, the program has been successful in its first year, with a high retention rate among participating students. The college has also put in place support services to help students succeed in their core courses.
Path to Success
Indian River State College offers over 120 programs, including associate’s degrees in arts and science. Students who complete the Promise Program can transfer to a university or pursue a bachelor’s degree at the college. The college has partnerships with universities such as UCF and FAU to provide a seamless transfer process.
The deadline to apply for the Promise Program for the fall semester is July 13th. Interested students can visit the Indian River State College website to learn more about the program and apply.
