Red River Parish, Louisiana, is dealing with significant flooding, with water rushing over bridges and affecting local residents. Coushatta Mayor Ashanti Cole shared a video on Facebook showing the extent of the flooding, with water almost touching the bottom of the guardrails on a bridge just before Bridge Street in the town.
The flooding is impacting the sewer station, and some residents may experience backflow issues. Mayor Cole also mentioned that many ditches in the town are filled with water, making it difficult to keep the roads clear. A motorcyclist was seen driving through the rushing water, despite caution signs and barricades.
Flooding Update
KTBS 3 Chief Meteorologist Patrick Dennis reported that parts of Red River Parish received 6-8 inches of rain overnight, leading to the flooding. The rain has cleared, and water levels are expected to drop in the affected areas, including Red River Parish. The Shreveport/Bossier City area is currently under a Flash Flood Warning.
