Voting Rights History
David Israel of Chicago brought his 8-year-old daughter Sadie to Alabama for a civil rights tour. They have already visited Birmingham and Montgomery and are now touring Selma. Israel says, “It’s just incredible to be where Martin Luther King, John Lewis, and many others were. I think it really helps her understand what’s going on and what happened.” Israel also emphasized the importance of understanding history, quoting Maya Angelou’s sentiment that remembering history is crucial so it can never be repeated.
