A Wisconsin judge has allowed the state’s Department of Natural Resources to continue paving roads inside Potawatomi State Park, despite a lawsuit seeking to stop the work. The lawsuit, filed by Potawatomi Advocates for Trees, Conservation and Heritage, claims that the tree clearing and road widening work was not approved according to state law.
Assistant Attorney General Gabe Johnson-Karp argued that the tree clearing work has been completed, and asked for the pavement work to continue. Judge Jennifer Moeller said she would sign an injunction to stop any further tree clearing, but allowed the road work to proceed.
A hearing is scheduled for July 14 to hear additional arguments in the case.
