A recent AP-NORC poll reveals that most Americans continue to disapprove of President Donald Trump’s handling of Iran, with 65% of U.S. adults expressing disapproval. The poll, conducted June 11-17, also shows that Trump’s overall presidential approval rating remains steady at 37%.
Partisan Divide
The poll highlights a significant partisan divide in opinions on Trump’s handling of Iran. While only 28% of Republicans disapprove of Trump’s actions, a vast majority of Democrats and Independents view his actions negatively.
Some Republicans, such as 79-year-old David Farrington from Fort Worth, Texas, are frustrated with the recent agreement between the U.S. and Iran. Farrington believes the agreement focused too much on the Strait of Hormuz and did not deliver enough on Iran’s nuclear program.
Economic Approval
The poll also shows that only about one-third of U.S. adults approve of Trump’s approach to the economy. This is in line with last month’s poll and continues a challenging stretch for Trump on the issue.
Despite this, some individuals, such as 64-year-old Joan Jones from northwest Florida, believe the economy is doing well under Trump’s policies. Jones points to the number of tourists visiting her area and the long lines at local restaurants as signs of a strong economy.
