The fire occurred on the rooftop of the Lineage cold food storage building in the 1400 block of South Los Palos Street. Three water-dropping helicopters made several runs, delivering about 480 gallons of water per run, which helped knock down the flames. However, the weight of the water added to the rooftop, causing concerns about the structure’s soundness.
A shelter-in-place order was issued for nearby homes and businesses due to the release of pressurized ammonia from a damaged line. Residents were advised to stay inside with doors and windows closed. The fire’s origin was on the rooftop, but authorities have not determined the cause.
