Family’s World Cup Plans Threatened by Ticket Issue

A Missouri family’s dream trip to see a World Cup game in Kansas City was put in jeopardy when they received an email from StubHub stating that their tickets were no longer available. Dacy Gillespie had purchased four tickets on StubHub nearly seven months prior, and the email arrived on the morning of the game.

A Christmas Surprise Turned into a Nightmare

Gillespie had surprised her two sons, Matteo and Luca, with the tickets on Christmas morning, and they were ecstatic. The family had also purchased Lionel Messi jerseys as part of the surprise. However, when Gillespie received the email from StubHub, she was devastated.

StubHub’s email stated that they would replace the tickets, but when Gillespie clicked on the link to review the new tickets, she was informed that there were no replacement tickets available. Gillespie was forced to purchase new tickets from another site at a much higher price.

A Last-Minute Resolution

After a representative from StubHub called Gillespie and promised to deliver new tickets, the family was able to attend the game. However, the replacement tickets never arrived, and the family had to use the more expensive tickets they had purchased from another site.

StubHub eventually offered to refund Gillespie’s original ticket purchase and provided a 50 percent voucher for a future purchase. Gillespie is asking the company to reimburse her for the more expensive tickets she was forced to buy.
