Lou City and Louisville Parks and Recreation are partnering to bring a new mini-soccer field to the Beechmont community. The field, which has been a center of the community since its opening in 2018, is being rebuilt through this partnership.
A New Beginning
Twin brothers Ali and Hussein Hassan, who learned to play soccer on the old field, are excited about the new development. “Playing here with my siblings really groomed me to be a better soccer player,” Ali Hassan said. The new field will have new netting, a new fence, goals, and a new playing surface.
Lou City Foundation CEO George Davis IV believes this effort is about growing the game and being a good neighbor. “It really takes a community to grow at the pace that we have,” Davis IV said. The new field is expected to be complete in early August.
