A 29-story apartment high-rise is slated for the West Loop after receiving approval from the City Council. The project, being developed by Domus Real Estate Group at 215 N. Racine Ave., was approved for a DX-16 zoning designation, typically reserved for Downtown’s core.
The 347-unit building will include 70 affordable apartments, with a mix of studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom units offered at city-set income levels. Plans also call for ground-floor retail, 88 parking spots and amenities such as a rooftop pool and terrace.
Public Park Planned
The development will occupy the entire 13,251-square-foot site. The project also includes plans to turn an approximately 11,000-square-foot lot about 700 feet north of the building into a public park. The park, near the intersection of West Carroll and North Racine avenues, is required under Chicago’s zoning code for new residential developments in Downtown districts and would be open to the public but privately managed.
