A new opinion poll reveals that over 75% of American voters are concerned about high gas and fuel prices, with 61% saying they are “very concerned” and 25% saying they are “somewhat concerned”. The poll, conducted by Noble Predictive Insights, surveyed 2,585 registered voters nationwide.

Financial Strains

The financial strains of high fuel costs are being felt across all age groups, with 84% of young adults and 87% of respondents 65 years of age and older saying they are either “very concerned” or “somewhat concerned”. Approximately two-thirds of respondents said the issue will directly influence their votes in the November midterm elections.

Women expressed higher overall concern about fuel prices than men, with 89% of females saying they are either “very concerned” or “somewhat concerned”. Minorities are also most acutely stressed by rising fuel costs, with 69% of Hispanic or Latino respondents and 64% of Black respondents saying they are “very concerned”.

Geographic Variations

Geographically, voters in the West are the most stressed, with 66% indicating they are “very concerned” about rising fuel costs. The anxiety level registers at 61% in the South, with 41% of voters saying they are experiencing a “great deal” of financial impact. In both the Midwest and Northeast, an identical 38% of respondents say they are experiencing a “great deal” of financial strain.
