Natrona County Approves Fairgrounds Digital Billboard

The Natrona County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a $207,000 digital replay arena billboard line item for the Central Wyoming Fair and Rodeo. Fairgrounds manager Tom Jones said ordering the screen now will ensure it arrives in time for the Indian Relay Races in September.

Upgrading the Fairgrounds

Jones also shared early concepts for tearing down and rebuilding the aging rodeo office, which has stood since 1952 and no longer meets modern building codes. Commissioner Dallas Laird supported the new digital screen, suggesting the fairgrounds could eventually use it to host outdoor movie nights.

In other business, the commissioners hosted a public hearing and then approved Resolution 21–26, which transfers over $1 million across various county accounts to balance the books as the fiscal year closes. County Clerk Tracy Good discussed the changes, saying that $364,084 is being moved from unanticipated revenue, largely stemming from insurance reimbursements for damaged county vehicles and newly awarded grant funds for the sheriff’s office.

Transit System Update

The board also heard an update from Casper Area Transit Director Liz Becker, who celebrated the agency’s fifth anniversary under city operation. Becker reported that the transit system serves roughly 160,000 riders annually and is conducting a route analysis to determine where fixed-route services could be expanded by early next year.
