Republican gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds has officially secured his spot on the ballot for the Florida governor’s race, celebrating the milestone with a campaign rally in Ybor City following a rapid multi-county tour.
Donalds’ Campaign Momentum
The Tampa event concluded a two-day, seven-county blitz where Donalds met with voters, grassroots activists, and local Republican leaders. The tour covered Collier, Sarasota, Hardee, Palm Beach, Okeechobee, Orange, and Hillsborough counties, coming immediately on the heels of a separate four-county swing completed in a single day over the weekend.
According to campaign finance filings and internal data, the Trump-endorsed candidate has raised more than $81 million from over 35,000 unique donors. Campaign officials also stated that field staff and volunteers have knocked on more than 100,000 doors across the state. Donalds’ team notes that the candidate currently leads in head-to-head polling matchups against Democratic opponents ahead of the November election.
Donalds is running on a policy platform centered on economic affordability, lower taxes, border security, and parental rights in education.
At the Ybor City rally, campaign representatives focused on building momentum and unifying the party base for the upcoming general election.
“The Republican Party is united behind Byron Donalds, and the energy we’ve seen across seven counties over the last two days proves it,” said Gates McGavick, Communications Director for the Donalds for Governor campaign. “This state has come too far to go backward, and Byron is the only candidate with the record and the backbone to make sure that never happens. Come November, he will defeat the Democrats and Keep Florida Great.”
