Kraft Group Sues Foxborough

The Kraft Group, owner and operator of Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, has filed a lawsuit against the town over what it claims are excessive licensing costs. The stadium, currently hosting the World Cup, is at the center of a dispute between the Kraft Group and the town of Foxborough.

Licensing Costs Dispute

The Kraft Group says the town has been dramatically overcharging it to renew the stadium’s entertainment license, with costs rising from $100 to around $1 million in new administrative fees. The town, however, claims these fees are necessary for public health and safety services.

According to the complaint filed in Norfolk Superior Court, the changes were made without public comment, and the Kraft Group proposed an alternative payment plan. The town manager, Paige Duncan, released a statement saying the town was disappointed by the legal action and that security for stadium events is becoming increasingly complex.
