US Senate Unanimously Rebukes China’s Xi Jinping

The US Senate voted unanimously to pass a resolution condemning Chinese President Xi Jinping and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), timing the symbolic rebuke just one day after Xi’s 73rd birthday.

Florida Senator Leads the Charge

Led by Florida Senator Rick Scott, the resolution formally denounces Beijing for a wide range of actions, including the exploitation of slave labor, systemic genocide against ethnic minorities within China, and escalating threats to American national security.

Scott released a statement targeting the current regime in Beijing and urging a firmer stance from American lawmakers. “The CCP, especially under Xi Jinping’s tyranny, has a particular brand of evil,” Scott said. “They seek to control the world, and in their mind, that means destroying anyone who stands in their way – whether it’s their own people or not. We cannot be afraid to stand up to our enemies and hold the line for the next generation of Americans.”

Legislative Push

The resolution is part of a broader, multi-year legislative push by Scott regarding U.S.-China relations during the 119th Congress. Over the current legislative session, the Florida senator has introduced more than a dozen bills aimed at curbing Beijing’s economic and technological influence.

Among these efforts are several pieces of technology and cybersecurity legislation, including the Blocking CCP Spy Tech Act of 2026 and the Strengthening Cyber Resilience Against State-Sponsored Threats Act. Scott has also sponsored economically focused bills like the CCP Sanctions Shot Clock Act, the Protecting Americans from Harmful CCP Products Act, the TICKER Act, and the Divesting from Communist China’s Military Act.
