Edgewood town leaders are set to vote on a new plan to maintain fire and emergency medical services as a dispute with Santa Fe County over costs approaches a critical deadline.
Santa Fe County has provided fire and EMS services to Edgewood since 2005, but disagreements over costs could end the arrangement on June 30. Over the past few months, multiple meetings have been held to negotiate a new agreement.
An agreement appeared to be reached earlier this month, but Santa Fe County backed out after an Edgewood commissioner was accused of requesting changes to the ordinance without informing the county.
Edgewood leaders have since stated that they are finalizing the new ordinance and plan to vote on it during their meeting tonight at the Edgewood Town Hall. If the deal passes, it will still need approval from Santa Fe County.
