G7 Leaders Discuss Ukraine, Middle East

G7 leaders gathered in Evian-les-Bains, France, to discuss the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy joined the talks, which also included discussions on ending the war in Ukraine and ensuring stability in the Middle East.

Ukraine Conflict

The Ukraine conflict has been ongoing for over four years, sparked by Russia’s full-scale invasion. The G7 leaders aim to find a resolution to the conflict, with French President Emmanuel Macron seeking to persuade U.S. President Donald Trump to continue supporting Ukraine and increase pressure on Russia.

Hours before the start of the G7 summit, Russia fired hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles at Ukraine’s biggest cities, killing 11 people and setting fire to a religious landmark. The attacks came after Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke separately with Trump on Sunday.

Middle East Stability

The G7 leaders also discussed the situation in the Middle East, with a focus on ending crises and ensuring stability in the region. Leaders of Egypt, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates joined the talks, which included discussions on the recent agreement to end the U.S. war against Iran.

Trump announced the agreement on Sunday, stating that he had good conversations with both Zelenskyy and Putin. The agreement aims to ease the economic impact of rising oil prices caused by the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
