Literacy Council Moves to New Office

The Literacy Council of Bowie and Miller Counties has relocated to a new office near downtown Texarkana. The organization recently moved from Texarkana College to 520 West 12th Street.

Administrators say the new facility will be more accessible for residents facing transportation barriers. The site also offers expanded room for classes, workshops, and tutoring sessions.

“For many years, we have kind of moved from place to place, which can make it hard for some of our clients to find us. We rely a lot on word of mouth and now that we have a stable location because we own this building as opposed to leasing it. We’ll be able to grow here forever,” said Jacklyn Whittington, Literacy Council executive director.
