Walker County Father Seeks Bond Reduction

Jameson Kyle Boley, a 40-year-old resident of Walker County, has petitioned a circuit judge to review and reduce the bonds on three pending felony charges. Boley claims in court filings that the $300,000 in cash-only bond is excessively high for the charges against him.

Background of the Case

Boley’s filing states that under Rule 7 of the Alabama Rules of Criminal Procedure, the recommended bond ranges are $2,500 to $15,000 for Class C felonies and $5,000 to $30,000 for unlawful manufacture of a destructive device. Boley is the father of the late 4-year-old Johnathan Everett Boley, who disappeared on New Year’s Eve and whose body was later found in woods near his father’s home.

The Walker County Sheriff’s Office and SBI investigation found that Boley was not involved in the boy’s death. However, during the search for the child, volunteer searchers found what was believed to be an improvised explosive device inside the home and recovered a smoke bomb from the top of a closet. Deputies also allegedly found methamphetamine spread across a dresser, along with multiple firearms and magazines unsecured and accessible to children. The weapons were later found to be legal.

A virtual court hearing will be conducted later this month to review Boley’s request. Boley was arrested around January 2, 2026, and has been incarcerated since that date on two counts of chemical endangerment of a child and unlawful manufacture of a destructive device.
